How to get my 1yr old to drink
« on: December 03, 2006, 20:46:42 pm »
My DS turn one a few weeks ago. In the past 3 days, I can barely get 16oz of milk/fomula into him, which is in the low end of the recommended amount. I try to feed him more yogourt for calcium. He doesn't even want to drink water or diluted juice. I tried both sippy and bottle, I'm not sure what I can do. I just feel like he is lacking in liquids. TIA

Is your lo teething? I know when Riley started to get his first molar, he went off solids and drinks as well. Would you like to post a general schedule of what he eats and when?

Hi

My LO is teething, he has for a while now, but nothing coming out. I can see the two top teeth are close. I can't remember seeing a diff when his two bottom came out, but that was when he was 9.5 months.

He eats solids vary well. Here is his schedule

630-7am wake bottle 5-6oz
20 min later breakfast, 1/2 cup dry cereal + milk
930 nap (anywhere between 45min-1 1/2hr)
1130 lunch (meat & veggies or pasta and meat sauce, sippy of milk or juice)
2 nap (anywhere between 45min-1 1/2hr)
5pm supper (meat & veggies or pasta and meat sauce, sippy of milk or juice)
7-730 bath, bottle,  sleep

He has a few small snacks in the day. snack normally are fruits, cheerios, crackers....

He used to have closer to 8oz bottle in the morning and evening. We eliminated the afternoon bottle a few weeks ago as he was not drinking as much, so we devide the amount through the day. He used to do very well with the sippy too and he did well with it.

This routine goes well at home, but he is at daycare 4 days a week, as I understand, the routine there is similar to mine.

Thanks
Sylvie
