How does pat shhhh work for a baby that sleeps on his back?  I want to use this to get my 6 week old back to sleep instead of his paci.  What works for you?

TIA

Hi,
hope it will help... my baby sleeps on her back all the time and we do shhhh, shhhh and put one hand on her belly and after a few minutes (2-3) move the hand (when she a sleep), keep the shhh for a few more minutes and thats it.

Both of my kids have been back sleepers. With #1, he liked having his thigh patted. #2 likes being patted on her side down by her bum. To get through jolts, sometimes a hand resting on the chest is all it takes.

My son is a back sleeper and touchy.  I modified the shh/pat... I would lightly pat his upper chest/shoulder area while shhh-ing.  Sometimes I would just lay my hand on his chest and shh.  It worked for us.  The great thing about the baby whisperer techniques is that you can use them as a guide/tool and then learn how that will best work for your lo.  Good luck!

Thanks, I have been trying different ways to pat shhh.  So far lo is pretty unresponsive.  But I am sticking with it.

Do you keep patting shhh till they are asleep, or calm?
