How much milk for 15month old?
« on: December 14, 2006, 19:35:23 pm »
Hi there,

I currently feed my LO of 15months (on 28dec) 1 bottle of a night and a bottle in the morning. She has plenty of cheese every day and yoghurts so i believe she has enough calcium.

When does the night/morning bottle feed end?

She takes a full bottle of a night (approx 9oz) but only half of that in the morning.

Will she take milk out of a spouted cup? As it is recamended that children come off their bottles at 12 months. My daughter still has a drink of milk about 9oz before bed but does not take it to bed with her and a drink of milk about 4 oz with her snacks at 10am and 2pm.

She does use a bottle now to have her milk but she will use a spouted cup but will only take small sips from it.

I use cups of a day with juice or water in but she never takes enough.

I will try her tomorrow with a sippy cup and see how that goes.
Many thanks

xx

We dropped the AM bottle at 1 year and the Bedtime Bottle at 17 months.

DS drinks well over 24 oz a day out of straw cups, along with cheese and yogurt.

He loves his milk.  ;)

My DS is 17 months old and still has 2 bottles a day, 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening.  We tried to wean our DS from his bottles but he was not ready, and received some good advice on here.  They do say that some lo's still require that sucking motion from a bottle a little longer as it helps them soothe and relax.

I found this link on the bottle feeding FAQ's board about a lo being too old for a bottle.

Hi again,

Thanks so much for your help and advice.

I gave keira a sippy cup and she has her water/juice from that no problem. She refuses point blank to accept milk from the cup tho at bed time. I will continue with the bottle for now at bedtime and read the link from tomtoms mum. many thanks  :)
