And it all starts again 4.5 month problem
« on: December 19, 2006, 03:46:21 am »
Well things were ok, except for the last week  ::)

Everytime I lay her down for her sleep, she gets mad and cries for up to a half hour. Once she is down is is up at least 4 more times within 2 hours crying. Not mantra crying, not fussing, Crying!

Nothing has changed, we havent gone anywhere. She isnt showing new milestones. I have given things to help in case she is teething but they dont help either. Does her routine need tweeking?

7am - wake up, eat 6oz
9-11am - nap
11am - eat 6oz
1-3pm - nap
3pm - eat 6oz
5-5:30 - cat nap
7pm - bath, massage, bottle 6oz
7:30 - bedtime

no dreamfeed, no middle of the night feed. She does wake in the night, needs to be resettled. We do swaddle, no paci. She's not sick, not gassy.

Is her routine the problem?

I added up the hours that my daughter gets in sleep in a 24 hour period. She gets 17 hours of "sleep" HOLY COW thats more than a 1 wk old is required according to the link we have here about typical sleep hours for children.

Hmm wonder why she is geting up at night huh? So then how do I schedule her around the typical sleep hours for her age which is supposed to be  15 or so??

Hmmmm  :-\

From what I can see your routine looks great.

When you are putting your lo down for her naps, does she fight to go to sleep or does she fall straight to sleep?

Does she always go down for her cat nap?  Do you think that this could be causing the problems?

How long has your DD been fussy for now?

The fussiness has been going on for about a week now.

She goes down great for naps but fights bedtime for about an hour.

She always goes down for her catnap very willingly. I wake her up at the 45 min mark if she hasnt woken up by then.

I have heard that things can go a bit hay wire around the 4 month mark.  Lots of milestones approaching etc.

I would keep on going as you are for a couple of days and see if things improve.

What are you giving for teething?

We are using the hylands teething tablets and tylenol at night.

She isnt otherwise fussy. She is very happy during the day. Once she is asleep she will sleep anywhere from 6-8 hours and then its up and down from there...

I would try and limit the cat nap to say 30 minutes and see if that makes any difference.

If she is fighting her bed time, it could be that she just isn't tired enough.

Keep us posted on how you get on.
