DD waking up screaming inbetween 9-11pm
« on: December 19, 2006, 19:53:23 pm »
My 12 month DD has been waking up for about a week in between 9-11pm just screaming.  She goes to bed at 7 and usually goes down very easy.  Until this has started happening.  The only thing that make her happy is nursing her.  I do that then she sleeps until 7am.  With no wake ups after she is nursed.  Not sure if I should continue nursing her when this happens.  She is screaming bloody murder.  She is an angel baby so she doesn't normally do this.  Any suggestions?

Calum does this sometimes and it is usually teething, I posted a few days ago nearly the same thing and I found a molar a few days after - so I am putting it down to that.  He was also crying in his sleep.

You can certainly consider giving pain relief and rubbing her gums when she wakes.

I think that you could be opening a can of worms if you feed her to sleep.  Could you post her routine and we could take a look.  How long has the waking at 9pm been going on for?

It just started about 1 week ago.

Wake 6:30-7:30
starting to skip her morning nap.  But start trying around 9:30-10:00am
Nap at 1pm if she has skipped her morning nap.  If she has had a morning nap then around 2-2:30
Sleeps 1-2 hours
Bed by 7:00

It sounds like she wants to nurse...but just to be sure, have you researched Night Terrors? (different from Night Mares or Dreams) Night terrors happen in the first few hours of sleep.

Here are some links on terrors...remember they are VERY different from dreams or night mares.
