At that age our DS had a very short A time in the morning, about 2.5 hours, but in the afternoon, could go around 4 hours.

Could you post your current routine so we could take a look at it?

Here is our routine:

6:30 wakeup and BF
8:00 solids
9-9:30 nap(I try to keep her up for 3 hours but at 2 to 2 1/2 hours she starts getting tired, rubbing eyes, etc.)
10:30 BF(yes she only sleeps for an hour)
12:00 solids
12:30 nap
2:00 BF
6:30 bedtime routine with bF
7:00-7:30 bedtime.

The problem I am having is that after her second nap there is such a long stretch for her to stay awake until bedtime.  Should I try to keep her up longer in the daytime even though she is exhausted and fussy?

Maybe you could extend her A time before her second nap just a little.  I would start adding a little bit at a time so that she is not overtired.  My lo is ten months also.  His morning A time is about 2.5 to 3 hours.  His afternoon A time is about 2.5 to 3 hours.  His evening A time is about 3 to 3.5 hours.  Sometimes he will have a short nap but he will still go down for his next nap at the same time.  Personally, I think that if this schedule is working for you and your lo then everything is fine.   :)

Hi there

I think, I wouldn't stretch her to do 3h before the first nap.  Most often baby need the shortest A time prior to the first nap.  So personally with a wake time of 630a I'd put her in the crib at 9am.  I think a 1h am AM nap is perfect really. Then I'd slowly add to the second A time - 5-10m every few days so she doesn't get Overtired.  Stop at 30m added, and see how the total 2.5h does for her.  This will push the nap to 1pm, hopefully she will still do a 2h nap and that will bring you to 3pm.  Perhaps do lunch at 1230pm and the do your BFing when she wakes at 3ish.

Lastly, with a wake time of 630a, I'd really move your bedtime up to 630/645pm and see how that plays out.  This will leave 3.5h before bed which she may be able to handle better.

Just my opinion!  Hope it helps some!
