Layla, sound like you and your LO have things all sorted  :)  Will be interesting to see how she goes dropping the cat nap - hopefully it doesn't affect your nights. ;)

Lol - I am sooo not looking forward to the catnap dropping. I am holding on to it for dear life at the moment.

My DD seems to be on the same wavelength.  Only I used to be able to get her right back to sleep with BFing.  She picked up a cold and now demands cuddling after her night feeds.  Would I be remiss to stop feeding her cold turkey and try to PU/PD?  I also feed her to sleep at bedtime.  Should that go first?  Or should I put her to bed awake AND fight the night wakings?

She is almost six months also.

Her routine (no solids yet):
7 Awake and eat
9 Sleep (1-1.5 hours)
11 Eat
12:45/1 Sleep (40 min-1 hour) (sister usually wakes her by being too loud)
3 Eat
4/4:30 Sleep (40 min-1 hour)
6 Eat
7:30/8 Eat and bedtime

She is usually down for the night around 8pm (feed to sleep).  Wakes 2-3 hours(10-11pm) later, crying and then 3-4 hours(2-3am) after that.  I've always fed (BF) her and she used to always go right back to sleep.

Well, if you think that your DD can handle cold turkey then give it a go. But you could also try weaning the feeds - there's a sticky in the FAQ section of this board called "How I stopped the night feeds with a 9 mo. old" that you should check out. It's geared more towards bottle feeding but since you're BFing you can accomplish the same thing by offering less minutes. She might still actually need one feed, but more than that is doubtful.

My daughter is also 6 mo and not sleeping through the night.  I'm not sure really what the problem is.  I also started my LO on solids at 4.5 mo. as her ped. recommended.  She is now on three meals a day, but the prob I've started to see is that she is starting to drink less formula.  It's like she is holding out for the solids which don't sustain her through the night.  Some others suggested that I quit giving solids before bed and maybe she would drink more milk, but it's not working.  She may drink about an ounce more milk now, but she is still waking up between 3 am and 4 am hungry.  (I think)  I try the paci, she spits it out and keeps screaming.  I don't know if I should feed her as much solids as I can since she will eat an endless supply, or continue cutting back on the solids hoping she will one day drink more milk. I'm also doing the DF, but she still wakes up every night.    ???  This is very frustrating.  I've tried PU/PD, but usually by the time it works, it's almost time to get up anyway.  Then she and I are tired from being up half the night.  Any suggestions?  Anthea, did you cut back on solids as others suggested?

Ashleamc1 - what does her day look like (naps, etc...). How many times does she wake at night?

7:00          Wake
7:30          Bottle          4 1/2- 5 oz
Usually it looks like this.  Lately I have tried to stop the dinner solids b/c some had suggested that, but it didn't seem to make a difference, not sure whether or not to start back.  Thanks for any input.

8:00          Cereal          4 oz.
9:00          Nap             1 Hr. 15 min
11:00         Bottle          4-5  oz
12:00         Lunch(solids) 2.5 oz
1:00           Nap             1 hr 15 min
3:00           Bottle           5-6 oz
4:45           Catnap         45 min
5:30           Cluster Feed  4 oz
6:00           Dinner(solids) 4 oz
7:00           Bath
7:30           Bottle           4-5 oz
10:15         DF                4 oz

Her day looks good (in regards to naps) and honestly I think she may actually be hungry when she wakes at night. I don't think solids make a difference at 6 months in regards to sleeping throu (just my opinion thou). Milk is more important than solids and between 6-9 months, its more trying things out here and there and from 9 months onwards, its usually more solids than milk so that by 12 months solids start overtaking milk.

I know its frustration when your lo is not sleeping through while other babies are doing it at 8 weeks but I also think its normal for babies to want night feeds up until 9 months (and some even a year). I think the only other things you could try is watering down the formula when she wakes up so that she will take more in during the day. I watered down formula when mine was waking every 3 hrs and we cut down to 1 feed.

Sorry if not much help here but that was all I could think of
