fighting bedtime
« on: December 28, 2006, 07:20:00 am »
hi my bub has been a good sleeper (after a LOT of training  ::)), but is now fighting his bedtime. Usually when he does this he needs more A time, but I am usure how much I can fit anymore in a day. We have been at one nap for about 2 mths now ( also a very bumpy road).
Our routine is:
8am wake
1:15-3:40 nap (this nap is usually 2-2.5hrs)
8:30 bed

Tonight he didnt fall asleep until 9am with much protest. should I shorten his nap or postpone bedtime? I was thinking of moving it up a bit so there is more A time before bed, but he protested his nap the other day as well. or maybe it is just a stage? any thoughts

What works for us, although we get about 11hours o/n & 1.75-2.5 in the day, is to be more active, esp between nap wake up & bed. If more running around doesn't work I guess you need to decide between cutting the nap back or later bedtime, as his total sleep is pretty much on par for 15mo (13.75 for 12mo & 13.5 for 18mo)

Thank you, that totally makes sense. He does crash when he plays with his cousins. It is hard to be active as he is an only child and it is the rainy season, but we'll try our best. Thanks again.

Running around the house playing chasings, dancing to music, setting up an indoor obstecle course (chairs to crawl over, spots to try & jump on cushions to climb over) are all things we do when we can't get outside
