fighting naps
« on: December 28, 2006, 11:45:07 am »
I seem to be losing my confidence in reading DS's sleep cues. He seems to show signs of tiredness but then won't nap. He stands in his cot and throws his teddy out. He yells. Then, I THINK he has gone to sleep but 10 mins later he is yelling again. I do PD if he does this but at what point do I give up? I start to question myself whether he really is tired or not. eg last night he woke at 4.30am! (after 9.5 hours sleep) and wouldn't go back to sleep until 8.15. He seemed happy for most of that time. At 7am I fed him and took him out of the cot for 45mins hour to play as he really didn't seem tired. At 9.30 he woke, crying. At 11.30 he showed signs of tiredness but wouldn't go to sleep. I questioned myself because it was only 2 hours from waking (usually does at least 3, nearer 4) but was definitely acting tired.

Think we have sorted it. I think he was getting overtired from our experiments moving to one nap. He is ok again now. For anyone else who has this problem-he WAS tired and I needed to persevere with getting him to sleep and not have him kid me that he wasn't tired! LOL!
