RE: Almost 1 year and chucking his lovies!

What to do?
This past week DS has started chucking his two lovies out of his crib at nap time and then screams hysterically for them!  Any ideas on what I can do to solve this without AP?  For example, if I go in and put them back in his crib he stops crying, gets silly and within a few minutes it starts all over!

We're also dealing with the beginnings of 2-1 naps so this is just another thing driving me nuts!

Ugh, we've had this happen multiple time with Katie.  I do it as part of wi/wo when I need to -- I'll go in there, tell her, "time for sleep, here's your bunny" and walk out....wait until she does it again and cries for 5-10 seconds and back in and repeat.  I don't react at all to the lovey being on the floor, just pick it up and act very matter-of-fact about it.  Sometimes I've had to sleep on her floor and then I'll do much the same thing, though her bunny is small so I can push it between the bars of her crib.

We've just been through the same thing. And we are also working on 2-1 naps! I think DS started it because he was overtired from the nap changes. I just did as the pp said and go in, put the lovie back in the cot, lie him down again and walk out. Had to do it for 20 mins the other day but eventually went to sleep.

Thanks for the tips.  I've been pretty much doing the same thing (wi/wo) so I'll just keep at it.  2-1 is stinky.  Today he refused the AM nap so after 1.5 hours playing in bed I finally got him up.  He finally went down for a nap at 1pm.  Ugh!

Yeah, the 2 to 1 transition is no fun, we had to do it b/c dd just started refusing nap #2 no matter how short nap #1 was.  Entirely worth it now that we've gotten through it to have that lovely after lunch stretch. :)

Nice, Stacy!  DS has two bears that are his loveys in his bed as well as a little stuffed bug that you can heat in the microwave to warm things up AND a little blankie.  He does not hesitate to throw ALL FOUR items out of his bed at times but usually it is just the two bears.  He also tries really hard to unzip his sleep sack and I'm sure one day we'll find that on the floor, too!   ::)  He pulled the bear stunt about 4 times while going down for his morning nap over the course of about 10 min.  I would hear their beanie bums hit the floor above me and then within a minute or two he would start to scream.  I would go in, he would point at them jumping and crying and saying "tsk tsk" which is what he calls them.  I would pick up the bears, lay him down and say, here are your bears, time for a nap and leave.  Each time he would stare at me then scream for about 20 seconds when I left and then throw the bears out again a few minutes later.  The last time I went in I think he figured it out and stopped.  He played with his crib toy for about 15 min and then went to sleep.  So fun, not!!

DD has something in the neighborhood of 24 crib friends these days, I often wonder how there's any room for her (plus a sippy of water plus 3-4 books as well and her pillow).  It takes her awhile to throw them all out of there, but she does on occassion.

Great, Stacy, so you're telling me I have another 1-1.5 months until he masters the grobag zipper?  Lov-er-ly!   ;D
