well last night went OK considering the awful day we had.
I tried to get him down for a nap at 11am but no he wouldn't go kept trying till 12 when i gave up and gave him some solids as he hadn't taken much breakfast, put him to bed finally at 12.40 when he went down great no bother ::) woke him at 2.15pm so i put him to bed at 6.10pm which is very earlier but thought it would make up for the lack of sleep in the day.
he made it till 3.15am which is the longest stretch in over a week ;D but then did pd with him till 4.15 when i thought bugger it and fed him he drank a full 8oz bottle but then played for 15Min's happily and went back off to sleep.
now i know if he drank the full bottle that would indicate hungry but he couldn't of possibly been as i had given him extra in the day to ensure he wasn't hungry ???
anyway i woke him at 7.15 this am so will start today

oh and the other great news is yesterday he actually drank milk from his sippy cup ;D only about 2oz before i had to transfer to bottle but it's a start

Thanks Lauren

I was just coming back on to find this post to ask how you got on.

Good progress on the sippy cup  ;D.  We are completely on them and I am going to sell my NUK bottles on eBay.

Maybe he just expects milk during the night now, since he was ill.  You may need to either offer water instead or water the milk down - he may just be thirsty, rather than hungry.  Do you offer him water throughout the day?

How is today going so far?

he has had a 30min nap wasn't too happy at first but went to sleep in the end so, so far so good.

he has started drinking a full beaker of water n the day only over the last 4 days so major progress there too, he would never touch it before.
I did actually water down the 8oz bottle last night, so he did have some am bottle today i am gonna leave the midday one in for now till i can stop these night feeds, although i am hoping he will stop waking if i get this routine right ;D
on the major plus side he slept through all last nights fireworks but i didn't ;D
hopefully tonight will go well, he managed really well with the 4 hr A time before bed last night and went down without a whimper so hopefully i will be able to put bedtime back to 7pm tonight as he has had the am nap which he skipped yesterday ::)

Thanks again Lauren ;D
speak soon

last night went awful again :( he woke at 12.15am but i think due to the fact that he was soaked right through all his night clothes, so required a full change it was gone 1.30 when i got him down and then he woke again at 6am????????????????????????

i put him down at 6.40pm last night as he was getting tired and didn't want him to be overtired?

hopefully it was just the wet nappy and tonight will go better?
any ideas what are the best nappy for night time?

I always swear by Huggies, and I always go a size up for bedtime.

Calum was soaked through when I was in Dundee yesterday, it was the first time that had ever happened and I had to buy him new trousers when we where out.  He had loads to drink during the day.

Emma, have your night wakings also coincided with your swich to cows milk?  I read yesterday you had made the switch.

no he has been waking up for over 6 weeks now it started with 1 waking then went to 2, things are definately better, i only switched to cows milk on saturday, he is taking it fine, my dh suggested putting him back on the follow on milk, but he is only 2 weeks of 1yr and we are away in feb so would like him to be on cows milk for the trip.

he wears huggies now for bed but i will try the next size up!
Thanks

well last night was awful he woke around 2.30am and didn't go back doen till gone 5.30am?????????????????

screaming like mad for 1hr of pd then i fed him he ate then screamed again for 40mins i took him down where he played happily??????????????????? ok so i am thinking this is the reflux monster back, he has had  afew episodes of being sick and i have heard him a few times with the wet buroing again and this morning i definately heard the milk come back up but not out!
I am more suspect of the reflux because he is feeding for comfort which is what he did in the early days, he would have bottle after bottle when he was n pain it must relieve it! but during the day he eems ok a few strange grunting noises that i suspect are him trying to get rid of the pain if that makes sense? but i suppose now he is more active and standing etc that if it is the reflux he won't feel it as much when he isn't lying down IYKWIM.

no the med stopped about 4 months ago he was doing great no problems i am wondering if when he had the gastroenteritis and was being major sick if he as undone any healing because this is when the night wakings started again, the gp says it can come back and said i could restart the gaviscon, but i find it useless i do have some zantac i could give him and am going to put in for a repeat script and see if they let me have it?

That would make sence that the gastroenteritis could make it reappear and undo anything that had repaired.  Calum had it at the start of Nov and it was awful, his whole body was shaking when he was being sick and he was so distressed - it looked like it really hurt.

Let me know how you get on.  :-*

he used to get them on and off, but yesturday he must have had them after each bit of liquid or food, he won't eat anything other than yoghurt at the minute not sure if thats the reflux or his two teeth coming through?
I give up today is all wrong already
