Breaking a Waking Habit - 5 month old
« on: January 02, 2007, 15:21:33 pm »
I had some issues last week with my son waking up every hour during the night last week.  The problem was somewhat solved when I kept naps to a max of 4 - 4.5 hours for the day.  Over the past 3 nights, he is has been waking up between 12 - 1 am and wants to be feed.  Last night, I tried shh/pat and pu/pd, but he was just freaking out and rooting to my breast.    I fed him and he went back to bed instantly.  Then again woke up at 4 am, I tried the same thing.  I don't mind the 4 - 5 am feedings, but I think that the 12 - 1 am feed has become a habit over the past 3 days.  How do I get past this?

Here is my EASY schedule:

He wakes up about 8 a.m.

E around 8 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.
A 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
S 9:30 a.m. – 11 to 11:30 a.m. (1 ½ - 2 hour nap)

E 11:30 a.m.
A 12:00 p.m. – 1 p.m.
S 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. (1 ½ - 2 hour nap)

E 3 p.m.
A 3:30 p.m. – 5 p.m.
S 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. (45 - 1 hour nap)

E 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
A 6:30 – 7:15 p.m.
E/S 8 p.m. (usually has a feed before bed)

Thanks,
Andrea  :)
