Need good healthy snack ideas
« on: January 04, 2007, 11:17:57 am »
Hi all,

Can everyone tell me what your los have as snacks, please?

At the moment, 3 meals a day is not working for us, as his nap clashes with lunchtime, so he gets breakfast and dinner, but, instead of lunch, he gets snacks before bed and after he wakes. Unfortunately, I'm not very creative, and need some ideas. He gets lots of fruit, etc, but I'd like to give him some variety as well as protein and carbs, etc.

TIA :)
Caroline :)

Caroline, this is just not fair >:( It is lunchtime and I am on a diet and you are asking about FOOD :o :o ;D

My suggestions would be:
yogurt
cheese & buscuits
raw veg & omlette strips
sandwich (ham, cheese, etc.)
peanut butter on crackers or rice cakes

That's all Folks - I'm going to have my diet milkshake :-\

Also:

- fruit (bananas, grapes, apple pieces, tinned mandarin slices)
- cheerios
- cheese sticks
- raisins (but personally, I worry about the effect on teeth)

Tonight, DS's bedtime snack was:

cheerios + dried cranberries + flaked almonds with natural yoghurt. That went down so well that he asked for a second helping

I'm a bit late on the responding to this one....  Recently I've been giving ds some yogurt with blueberries and some graham cracker to dip in the mixture.  He LOVES it!!!  He also loves toast with peanut butter and raisins on top.
