help me please sleep problems

Hello my name is Jody I have an 4-month old little boy Hunter I have been trying to observe him and try to see if he has his own little pattern going on but, it changes every day he is a very touchy baby and does not like change. I am currently trying to put him on a routine but am having difficulty. he will not take naps in his crib, he currently sleeps with my husband and I by my choice which is not the problem the problem is sleep. his naps are very short about 30-45 mins and some days he will sleep for two hours at nap time. I don't know what I am doing wrong, I could really use some advise.

Hey Jody the first thing you want to do its get him on the EASY routine. 

How often does he eat?  Every three or four hours?  Do you breast or bottle feed?  What is it that you want to accomplish?  Do you want him to have long naps on his own?  In his own bed?

I am breast feeding but he still nurses about every 2 1/2 to 3 hours I have been tring to strech out his feeding time. I would like for him to take longer naps during the day in his own bed, but it seems like he can't fall asleep with out my help. I just don't know what I am doing wrong or what to do to fix the problem.

Ok I didnt breast feed and i know that it is alot different if you do.  So you may be best to post on the BF board to get some good ideas to lengthen out your feeds and stop feeding to sleep.
