Need some help...
« on: January 08, 2007, 16:52:20 pm »
I'm new here so I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this...

My son is 4.5 months old and EBF.  He will not take a bottle and has recently begun refusing the pacifier.  He was sleeping through the night for a few weeks (with no help from me, he just did it one night) and then suddenly stopped.  Now he is waking up 2 times during the night to eat.  I have tried just patting his back (he's a tummy sleeper) or the pacifier but both just make him mad so I end up feeding him.  I don't think he is hungry because he used to go at least 7 hours without food, so I know he is capable.  Right now he is asleep by 9pm and then wakes up around 2am and 5am and then is up for the day at 8am.  How can I help him to drop at least the 2am feeding (which is the one that he dropped before on his own)??

Thanks,
Kira

Hi Kira, and welcome to the BW boards!!  ;D

My dd did the same thing at the same age - and it turns out she really needed one extra feed at night as she got older.  Not what you wanted to hear, I know.  However, you might be able to get those two wakings down to one...what is your routine during the day?  Often that is where the culprit is and when you get your days sorted out you will see the night fall back into place.

HTH!
