DF questions
« on: January 09, 2007, 02:58:47 am »
Hi All,

I am going to attempt the DF again tonight.  I tried 1 week ago, but it did not work.  Now, my baby is 6 weeks old and has slept 5 hours 4 nights ago, so I know she can probably drop the late night feeding.  My questions are... do I keep the same amount that I normally feed her for the tanking up feedings and DF?  is 7-9-11:30 an ok schedule? How long does it normally take for the late night feeding to drop once you start the DF?  Please share your experiences and advice.  Thank you!

Your df should happen no later than 11 cause then you are into night sleep according to Tracy's book.  If you want 2.5 hours between the last two you could do your tank up at 6:30, 8:30 and 11.  Or do 7, 9 and 11.  I would just let LO drink as much as she wants to.  Also it can take a few days or up to a week for a df to actually work  and have them drop the night feed.

I agree with Lana.

My DS usually has an ounce or so less in for his DF than he does for his day time bottles (at the moment he has 8oz bottle in the day and usually only takes about 6-6.5oz for the DF). I always make up a normal bottle though - on some occasions he's surprised me and had the lot!

It does take a while to get the hang of the DF, but its definitley worth it.

Let us know how you get on.

love
Marie
