what age does DD not have morning sleep anymore
« on: January 09, 2007, 10:16:22 am »
Hi my DD is 9mths old. She goes to bed at 7.30pm and up at 7am in morning (though i have a dummy problem thru the night but thats another issue i'll deal with in your props section). After bottle and breakfast in morning she still gets a bit sleepy by about 9-9.30 and goes back down for a period of 45- 1hr. Then she has another sleep at approx. 1-1.30pm for approx 1-11/2hrs. I was wondering should i really try and cut out this morning one so that she can give a good 2-3hrs sleep at lunch time. Thanks for your replies. Vicki.

Um, at 9mths old i wouldn't advise one nap a day.  I know others who have tried to....and it always ends up messy!!  Trust me!

My dd is slightly older and has A times of 3.5/3.75hrs at a time.  Our routine looks like this,

700- wake
730- eat bottle
830- solids
1030-1115 nap 1 (45min)
1145- solids
145/2- bottle
230-400  nap 2  (1.5hrs)
445-solids
630- bath
700- bottle
730- bed

Maybe you can show us your routine so we can help you more.

I agree.  It sounds like she is giving you tired signals in the morning so she still needs her nap.  To go to one nap your little one will need to be able to stay awake for 5+ hours. ;D

hi samijoe :D
My DD routine is something like this:

7-7.30am wake
7.30 bottle (approx. 7oz)
8.30 solids
9-9.30 sleep (approx 45mins)
11-11.30 bottle (approx 3 1/2 ozs)
12noon solids
1-1.30pm sleep (approx 45mins - 1 1/2hrs)
3pm bottle (approx 4ozs or less)
5pm solids
6pm bath
7pm bottle (approx. 5 1/2 ozs)
7.30 bedtime.

Today i am trying your routine as i have been wanting to drop the fourth bottle. She has done it to the tee so far but i am only up to the afternoon sleep and i can here her now so she only got to 3.30pm. So i am yet to get thru the rest of your routine. Hopefully she will not wake in the night still hungry from the drop off of a bottle. Also considering her age she only has her 2 bottom teeth and has been teething for quite some time. She weighs approx 10kg. and is not far off walking so she is quite active, although i have found her to be and ANGEL baby right from the start that is probably why she has just gone along with todays routine but i know her teeth are giving her major trouble. Thanks for the talks. vicki  :-*

Vicki,

good to see that you are beginning the change.  Please be advised that my dd has slightly longer A times than most lo's their age....so maybe aim for a 3hr A time.  I wouldn't want you to strive towards my routine if she is not ready for 3.5hrs of A time.

from the looks of your routine, i would condense the 2nd and 3rd bottles.  don't worry about her waking....as long as she drinks them fully (might take a few days for her to get used to) she should still sleep.  her bottles are so tiny right now that it should end up being the same amount.

good luck.

Well she slept thru the night without a problem and did have more of her 7pm bottle than normal. Thanks for your advice. She even went to bed without really having a little cry. :)
