In one way, I will be glad when he is older and doesn't nap anymore, one less thing to stress about!
   Shocked Shocked

Michelle, In a few years you will be regretting you said this!   Grin Grin  Just kidding.  As long as he is still getting a decent amount of sleep, THAT IS GOOD!  Wink

LOL, If you see me here in a years time complaining about no nap, pull this quote up for me!

My ds may not still sleep well, but he eats anything and is a delight when he is awake (but not in his cot!)

Same here :)

Well, PJ fell asleep while being rocked last night, he was so tired.  He was asleep before 7 and slept till 7:30!  BUT he as been clinging to me all day and all day has been pointing to his mouth.  I have given him both tylenol and ibu and he just woke from a 1h20m nap crying.  UGH can't win.  Sleep not too good here today.

PJ has reflux and has been on meds since about a month old.  I think mom's and dad's of reflux babies tend to do a lot of ap b/c there are so many rules to eating. Like when they were little you couldn't put them down to sleep right after they ate in the middle of the night, they would spit it all up......etc.  They have a lot of pain if not medicated and don't like to lay flat on their backs.  PJ has slept on his stomach since 4 months. :o  before that he was elevated in a car seat in his crib.

Gotta go get PJ.  Ask me any q's you want about reflux.  Sure sounds like your LO has it!  Teething definitely makes it flare.

;D I definitely count on naps and will be sad to see them go, even if it is a pain to get him to go down and stay down at times. It is so nice to hear from you all and see how similar our stories are. Well after our night out last night Aiden woke at 11 very briefly. We had decided that I would start takingthe nights again and dh would take the mornings as I was waking anyway. Seems I do better at night and he in the early morning. Well the joke was on me! Aiden woke at 3:38 chatting and playing. I went in after he started fussing and he wasn't asleep until 5:40!!!!! :'( Then he woke for the day at 6:25.

DH came in at about 5:20 to relieve me and is conviced he stayed up so long because it was me in there. I suspect it was just that restlessness from teething but there may be some truth to what dh is saying. Anyway, my eyes hurt today because I am so tired! Aiden seems fine - not overly tired (but maybe just wired).

Whatever doesn't kill us will only make us stronger right?

Isn't it funny how we are working so hard right now to get our LOs to sleep and later in life (like their teenage years), we can't get them to wake up early  :P

Well, we have made some major progress.  Last night our LO went down fine and stirred at 2am and 5am but was able to settle himself to sleep.  He then woke at 5:30am and I knew I had to be engaged because he wasn't go back to sleep.  I did the WI / WO for 10 minutes (with lots of heavy crying  :'() and he fell asleep until 6:20am.  By lunchtime, he was so terribly exhausted.  We put him down at 12:45pm for a nap - we may have stretched it too long.  He woke up every 30mins but our nanny managed to comfort him back to sleep so his total naptime was *2HRS*  ;D  That is the longest he has napped in...I don't remember when.  All our nanny had to do was walk in his room and he immediately went back down....she didn't even have to touch him or say anything.  I guess he's finally getting the point.  I'm not sure if that will work for me though.  He seems to go bezerk when he sees me.  Anyway, when my LO finally woke up from his nap, he didn't cry at all, which hasn't occured in a long time.  He's been waking up and crying bloody murder.  He layed in his crib and said "mama" in his sweet gentle voice... and you betcha I ran up those steps as fast I could to give him lots of hugs, kisses, and loving.

Hopefully this is a start of a good trend and I just didn't jinx it. :-X

I love my ds's naps too!!!

Last night I think we had to go in 4 times in total.... that is BIG progress.  One of his canines looks really sore though so I shouldn't expect too much in the next little bit.

ok we are now on the 9th night (save 1) that it has taken PJ 2 hours to fall asleep.  I know everyone is saying don't worry b/c he isn't crying, but he is losing sleep and I am losing my mind.  He makes up the sleep on a rare occasion by taking a longer nap and for a few mornings he slept late, but he dropped that as of late.

This is driving me insane.  I really try to get him down early, I rock him, do a long bedtime routine.  OH MY GOD

Hi

My son is doing this again too.The last few nights he refuses to lay down and i just have to leave him to play until he finally falls asleep. I hate the fact he is loosing sleep but then again he was before anyway with all his NW. It is a viscious cycle at times but they always seem to eventually sort it out themselves.

Jakob at present sleeps 2hrs for his nap from 12-2pm. I think i need to shorten the nap but until he goes to sleep at bedtime and sleeps all night he needs this 2hrs. Hence bedtime he isnt quite tired enough just to lay down. Have you looked at altering your Los nap length? I think once Jake sleeps all night on a regular basis i will shorten his nap to 1 1/2 hrs and see if it makes bedtime more like bedtime NOT playtime!!

I am right there with you!!
Good luck

Sadly, he doesn't nap well, either.  A good nap is what I pray for on these nights, but I don't usually get more than 1.5 hours when he is overtired and sometimes less.

I agree "Long live the NAP!!"

We had a better night last night. I put Aiden down and was able to lie in the dark in his room adn he fell asleep on his own after about 35 minutes. We had had a major bout of SA as well as the teething starting after the holidays which meant that he wanted my hands on him and patting etc. to fall asleep. He woke at 12:30 for 40 minutes. DH went in and just laid don the floor while he babbled away  ::). He woke this morning at 5:45. Actually when I write it it doesn't look that great (that is a little early to wake) but it is definitely improvement for us!

We shall see what today brings.

Me too!

Judy-Thanks for the hugs.  I sure need them lately.  three canine (incisors?) coming in at the same time!  he is just not himself.
I am waiting for these to pop through before I work on more sleep training...

Teeth seem to be the problem of the day. My ds has top two canines coming through, and iwould not be surprised if the bottom two are following. At least he has 16 then , so i think no more til the 2 year molars.
We have been averaging 5.00am wake ups this week, but he will not go back to sleep til he gets his milk, so its wi/wo til 6 (I know, I am NOT complaining) and lights on and up, so he is very tired, but VERY stubborn.
This i can handle after the previous 4 weeks of CONSTANT night wakings.
