27 months old & barely eats meat
« on: January 13, 2007, 14:27:07 pm »
Hi all!

My dd who is 27 months old, will only eat about a dime-sized piece of meat in a day.   ::)

My question is, if she won't eat the meat, what should I be replacing it with?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

TIA. ;D

It's pretty common for toddlers not to like meat. Something about the texture puts them off. My DS rarely eats it so we treat his diet as if he was a vegetarian. We make sure to keep his protein intake up (dairy, peanut butter, etc) and offer iron foods like fortified cereal (cheerios is good), beans, and things like that.

Thank you Melissa!  :D

It's reassuring to know that my dd is not the only lo around who avoids meat like it's the plague!  :P

She loves dairy products and eats alot of it (especially yogurt and cottage cheese), and she also loves baked beans and the kidney beans in chili and for a snack she often wants bread with molasses on it- so I guess that's okay then?  :-\

I guess if I think about it, I'm not much of a meat-eater either........ ;)

That sounds good what she is eating. Riley is not big into meat, but I am vegetarian so I think maybe he doesn't want to eat it on his own. He does tend to try meat if DH is around. He does enjoy tofu, beans, has yoghurt daily, quorn and other veggie products likle that, cheerios etc. I think we are doing okay.
