varied night wakings-dreamfeed or any suggestions
« on: January 18, 2007, 16:34:06 pm »
We recently transitioned our 11.5 wk DS from the family bed to the crib. We were also guilty of just about every accidental parenting you could do. We used shh/pat an w2s to correct our mistakes. I have tried dreamfeeding for about 8 days to get my son to drop his 1 am feeding. I didn't have much success. Once he slep through the night. The last two nights I didn't try dreamfeeding. The first night he slept through. Last night he woke at 2 and he bf from one breast. He then woke at 3:15 and we put him back to sleep. Again at 4:40 and 5:15. I bf him at 5:15 since he normally eats around then. We he co-slept, he ate at 1& 5 AM. Any suggestions about dreamfeeding or is it him geeting used to sleeping by himself? I tried bf and ebm. Also, going back in ten minutes later.

I think you're doing fine. Changes take a little time to kick in, so stick with it.  :D

Should I go back to trying dreamfeeding or let him eat at 1 and 5?

At 11.5 weeks, he's still very young and will need at least one night feed for a while yet. Whether or not you choose to DF is up to you - but keep in mind that it can take about a week, maybe longer, to show results.
