when she wakes up only 20 minutes later, is naptime over?
« on: January 21, 2007, 00:12:56 am »
My daughter is almost 4 months old. She takes about 3 or 4 very short naps during the day.  Today at 5 PM, after 15 minutes of shh/pat, she finally fell asleep.  After 20 minutes, she was crying again.  I was going to try w2s at 25-30 minutes, but we didn't get that far.

So my question is: when she wakes up only 20 minutes later, is naptime over?  I tried unsuccessfully for the last 45 minutes to get her to go back to sleep.  She's eating now, but is super cranky.  Her afternoon nap was short, too, so I know she must be tired.

So in the future, do I count it as a nap and feed her and move on to A time?  Or do we try to go to sleep again?
Thanks.

Sounds like she is overtired and the reason for her short naps. How long is she awake before you put her down for her morning nap? Is she still on 3hr EASY.

She is on 3 hour Easy.  Her activity in the morning is about an hour to hour and a half.  It's pretty low key though.  Mostly sitting in her seat or walker with one toy while mommy and daddy get ready for the day.

I know being overtired had been her problem because she was not sleeping well at night.  Now even with these short naps, her nights are much better.   The last few nights, she's gone to bed around 8-8:30 without any crying.

Sometimes she'll nap for an hour and a half, but most are 35 minutes or less.  That's why I was wondering if I should "make her" keep napping, or just keep going with the routine.
