Can't Get PMs, Any Ideas?

Hi!  A couple people have told me that they tried to send me a PM, but were unable to.  My inbox is cleared, so I don't think that is the problem.  Any ideas?  Thanks!   :)

Tell them to take the apostrophe out of Nathan'sMommy - making it NathansMommy and try that...

I bet it will work.. if not come back to me lol..

Have pm'd you... let me know if you get it..

When I clicked pm.. I just deleted the apostrophe in the username that came up...

The prob is caused because usernames when you register them dont have apostrophes etc in.. but your screen name that appears on your posts can.. The pms go via the username..

Its as clear as mud huh.. but I hope it works lol..

Sure do..

Go to your profile.. then select account related settings in the little menu on the left hand side of the screen..

You will then see your username.. and then a box where you can choose your screen name.

Remember though, that your display name is different from your username.  I can change your actual username if you which, that makes pm'ing much easier.

If you go to your profile and then the change account settings.. the username will be the name at the top that you cannot change yourself, the display name is the one you can change...
PMs go to the username..

So I assume your pms go to ciarasmummy

Yep, changing the display name and keeping the old username can confuse folks when they go to pm you.  Remember when Katie was having trouble with her pm'ss?  It was that her username was different from her display name.  Folks were sending pm's to a different Katie -- one with that registered username!  Confusing, eh?

So, yes, Nicola, pm's to to ciara'smummy.

Sheila, all set.  When we reset a username we are also required to reset the password. It's been emailed to you.  You can change it in your profile when you login again.

Okay, I've reset password again and emailed it from my personal account rather than having in generated by the site.  Let me know if that works. :)

Also, make sure you logout first (if you haven't) and clear your cache, temp. internet files and cookies.
