Sophie, my dh was diagnosed about 2 years ago with having a wheat/gluten allergy/intolerance.  Before he was diagnosed he noticed he had a bloated stomach, chronic constipation, sore stomach and had fairly rapid weight gain.  Since cutting out all wheat and gluten he hasn't had bloating or constipation as much and managed to lose about 30 lbs without doing much else.  If he does happen to eat trace amounts of wheat he has serious stomach cramps, nausea and diarrhea.

I'll be honest with you.  As the person who does most of the cooking and loves pizza, breads and pasta, IT SUCKS.  To quote Mad Eye Moody "CONSTANT VIGILANCE!"  Wheat is hidden in more products than I ever thought.

Good luck and PM me if you need to...
