Night wakings!!
« on: January 28, 2007, 18:21:50 pm »
Hi i'm new to the site and don't know if i'm doing the right thing but any ideas on our current situation would be greatly appreciated!
I have a four month old baby boy who was sleeping for 12hr stretches at night which was bliss but in the past two weeks has been waking anything between 4 and 6 times a night! At first i thought he was hungry so tried to increase the amount he drank through the day but to no success! He wakes at all different times so i don't think its habit yet!!

Any ideas as i'm starting to feel like a zombie!!

sorry you are having a hard time right now and welcome to the site.

What does your daily sch look like?
Could he be teething? I remember at that age mine started drooling and becoming a little upset with her gums.

Hi Lozzie and welcome to the boards. Sorry to hear about your difficulties at the moment. I'm going to pop this post over to night wakings, where you'll get some great advice.

Well an average day he wakes at 7 and has a 6oz bottle, is normally asleep between 8.30 and 9.00 for anything between 45mins and 2hrs. Another bottle at 11 and is then normally awake until about 1, when he has a 2hr sleep followed by a feed at 3pm, he's then awake til his bath at 6.30pm, bottle at 7 and normally in bed asleep by 7.30. I give him a dream feed normally at about 11pm and that was enough to see him through til 7am the next morning but just recently he wakes anytime between 1 and 2am for the first time and then roughly every hr or hr and a half for the rest of the night!

I'm not sure about the teething thing, everything goes straight into his mouth and he dribbles loads but his gums don't seem hard or white??

One thing I see in your schedule is that he is awake from 3:00 until 7:30.  That is REALLY long for a 4 month old.  My DS is 11 months and still can't handle that long.  You may be having problems caused by overtiredness.

My other thought is does he have a prop to get to sleep (paci, rocking, etc.) that he might be waking for?
