Misreading cues?
« on: January 28, 2007, 21:22:09 pm »
Hi

I have an 8 week old boy. I am keeping a close eye on his cues (I think!) and can usually catch him by the 2nd or third yawn. Around the same time, he starts to fuss a little, so I am fairly confident this is the start of his tiredness. It is usually around 1 hour after waking. My problem is, I can't get him to drop off. I have tried a wind down, I go to his darkened nursery, swaddle him, cuddle him, ssh-pat, but it seems to take around 40 mins or more for him to close his eyes. Even if I cave in an just cuddle him wherever I happen to be, he just fights sleep. If I do this earlier than his "fussiness" it just takes even longer!

Any ideas for a good nap-time? By the time I get him to drop off and get to the first jolt, he just wants to get up again. Is it too early to establish nap times? I have to added problem of looking after my 3 1/2 year old daughter - it is hard to stop with my son for such a long time, when I have to care for her too.

Help!

Liz
