Dreamfeed Problems
« on: January 30, 2007, 07:37:29 am »
Hi all

I tried EASY when my daughter was about 4 weeks old but we didn't get on with it at the time, so gave up but am now trying again now she's 10 weeks.

I have a problem with the dreamfeed.  She'll feed at 7am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm then I cluster feed at 6pm and 8pm and then dreamfeed at 10.30pm.  However, the dreamfeed seems to wake her up and then she can take another 2 hours to settle back to sleep again.

If I don't dreamfeed, she can sleep from around 8.30pm/9pm until 1am, then wakes again at 4am and then again at 7am.

If I do dreamfeed, she can be up until midnight/12.30am and then wake again at 3am and 6am and then I have the problem of trying to hold her out until her 7am feed.

What am I doing wrong with the dreamfeed?  Do you think I should just drop it altogether?  I was aiming to get her waking just once during the night but am having trouble getting her to do this and she insists on waking twice.

The DF does not work for every lo.  With some lo's it can end up causing more nightwakings.  If you are finding that it is not working for you lo then I would drop it all together.  Have you tried moving the DF to 10:00pm - this may help a bit?

It is not uncommon to still have night wakings at such a young age.
