Thanks guys.  I would have sworn there was something in the instrucitons which said I needed to do something before it worked  :-[

I read the instructions and I did not see anything.  DS was getting really frustrated and kept on giving it back to me.  I tried to drink out of it and it was hard, so that is why I decided to cut it.

I don't know why they're considered disposable - i think it's totally wastefull! I have a bunch of the same brand's little bowls with lids that I bought ages ago for Marshall's frozen baby food at daycare ... he still uses them for his snacks! I guess it's the same thing as those ziplok "disposable" plastic containers - they say they're to be tossed, but I really think they're fine to keep - and much cheaper than the "permanent" versions!

The straw cups don't really leak that much - I mean, like I said earlier, don't give him grape juice in it and then send him toddling to the living room, but for the high chair, they're totally fine!

Well, yes and no on the Nuby.  He tried when I first got it (which is huge), but then when he couldn't get anything from it he stopped trying.  I went ahead and cut the slits bigger, but may have gotten carried away!  I tried again and he didn't like it (as the milk was running down his face ;D).  So, I have another and will try again!

I hope it works!

For a long time when we were first introducing a sippy (~6-8mos or so), the take-n-toss were the only thing she'd drink out of.  I always thought it was because they were cheap enough that if you lost it, it wasn't a big deal.  And there is no valve, so they do leak, but they make it easier for beginners.

I am not sure how to post a pic on here so hope that works, but Nuby has two straw cups, little one with handles and tall one without handles.  My son who HATE HATE HATES drinking out of sippy will take these.  Just thought I would mention it!
