could this be a food allergy?

my son has been having some really dry kind of reddish patches of skin and also random diaper rashes. these are not like Yeast (been there done that) and it is patchy. mostly right around the bum hole and right around his scrotum. hope that's not TMI but I am wondering if that could be an allergy because it comes and goes and diaper rash cream didn't help.

sounds like dry skin, is that what it looks like? If so it may be eczema. DS has had this, sometimes related to lactose intollerance, sometimes randomly. Does he have it anywhere else on his body?

You're LO has reflux if i remember correctly
. Sometimes they can have acidic poo's and this causes a sore red rash that looks like thrush . We get it quite often here , especially if he has a runny (TMI) poo . If we change as soon as he has poo'd his bottom is o.k

ok. I didn't know they were related. We have tried aveno diaper rash cream but it hasn't gone away. in fact it got worse. I let him air out with every diaper change and for 20-30 jmin. after his bath. is there a diaper cream that you feel works best?? I havn't found one that helps it at all.

So that's why we used to get that!! Hitting forehead now and saying DOY!!!!!! It makes sense!
Now that one mystery is solved, this is what we used on it:

Spendy, but so worth it. Cleared her up in a couple of days. The airing out will help too.

did you put a lot on? or...apringly. I feel like I put so much of the other stuff on trying to get a good cover so he wouldn't get it anymore...maybe I was contributing to the problem that way!!!

Medium amount. Heavier at bedtime. She was trying to crawl away from her bottom as we put it on, so we usually did not get a ton on. Ouch!!

Love the name of that cream " butt paste "
. I bought a cream in France and it worked a treat "mustela " .We forgot our cream and it was recommended to us by the hotel staff .
