this is ridiculous!!
« on: February 12, 2007, 20:53:34 pm »
Sighhhhhhhhhhhhh :-\!!

what am I doing wrong?!! Fin is 61/2 months and waking up at various times for up to 1 1/2..... i thought it might be him being overtired but it just doesn't seem to be this because he had 4 hours worth of naps on sunday and woke at 4am last night whereby he took a 5oz bottle, slept for 30 mins and then woke up from 0440 til 0530....it is driving me nuts especially now i'm back to working 12 hour shifts....might it be the feed, can this be unsettling him? i'm constantly being told by friends and co-workers to let him CIO :o :o :o....he doesn't cry much usually chats to himself but towards the end of the hour he'll start to winge/cry until i go in to replug him....why is he doing this?

HELLLPPPPP!

How long has this been going on?  Could it be related to a growth spurt?  Maybe he's getting too much day sleep?

;D just before i do anything, Jessica you still make my heart swell!!!.- thankyou!... and yes... the dummy is a prop, and i know i have to deal with that  :-\ :-\ :-\ just can't build up the courage to do so :'(

ok ladies thank you for responding; first off, this has been going on for a while, a good few weeks however, in fairness it's not every night but it can be 4/7 nights.  Last night was a good one, woke a couple of times for his dummy and then at 0230, gave him a full bottle of 7oz instead of the 5oz like the previous night and he slept until 0600...but when he does do it he's awake 40 - 1 1/2hrs, almost like he's doing his daytime schedule so that makes me wonder if the night feed is the problem but he absolutely guzzles the bottle down which i know, from previous postings, that he is definately hungry.

Anyhow, this has been our routine for a few days, give or take. He is predictable in that his A time is roughly 2 - 21/2 hours until his next nap.  Our day begins for naps when he wakes in the morning IYKWIM so he doesn't really have 3 hr A times like it appears.

0600 - 0630ish awake
0700 - Bottle 4oz
0800 - breakfast; x1 weetabix/rice

0800/0830 - nap 45 - 2 hours

1100 - Bottle 5 - 7oz
1200 - Lunch - Full bowl

1230 - nap - 2 hours

1500 - Bottle 2 - 3oz
1600 - Dinner - full bowl

1700ish - nap 30 mins...............sometimes this doesn't happen and bedtime is 1830

1900 - bottle 4 - 7 oz.....sometimes refuses this as too tired

1900 - 1930 bedtime.

2200 - 2230 df - full 7oz...

Any pearls of wisdom ladies?  Can u see something I can't?

Thanks for looking! I await your insight! ;) and thankyou!!

;D  glad I can make you happy!

Firstly I think you should decide what you want to do about that paci. No fun I know but I bet that's at least part of your problem. But also, how long have you been doing solids?

Jessica, i know what you're saying about the dummy (ughhhhh! ::)) i'm just terrified of doing the withdrawal!...School half term is coming up and dh is also off with me so i'm building myself up to doing the business.  Solids have been going since 5months.

I was wondering if maybe he could be getting gas or upset from the solids but if you've been at it for a while probably not.  :-\   As a side note too it's probably about time to drop that evening catnap altogether. That might help too.

Jessica, if he wakes at 1430 from his nap, can he go 4 - 41/2 hours A time without being too overstimulated or overtired?

LOL, sorry, I didn't clarify that well eh? You'd need to adjust his other A times a bit to compensate for that time. Like nap #1 at 9:30, nap #2 at 2:30ish, depending on how long nap #1 ends up being when it's pushed back. What happens when he skips the catnap now?

hehe well you know him best so do what he needs of course. A lot of folks have had success with stretching A times by doing just 5 minutes at a time for several days or even longer.

My little joker is well... he has now figured out that he can drag his diaper container (we cloth) that goes to daycare around and stand on it to reach things.  ::)

Yeah, he's been 200% spirited since I was pregnant. I remember telling him that this kid would be a piece of work, and DH thought I was nuts! He couldn't understand how I could tell that before he was even born.  ::) Men
