LO Fine with sippy cup except when it comes to her milk
« on: February 18, 2007, 02:34:05 am »
I need help,  my lo will drink water and juice out of a sippy cup no problem, but when it comes to her milk she MAY drink 1oz out of sippy cup, then will either refuse it and want to go off and play or will refuse it and start crying and hitting the sippy cup out of her way.  I then go and put the rest of the milk in a bottle and as soon as I bring it out she is all over me to give it to her.  I've tried Playtex, Avent, and Nuby (the ones that resemble the bottle the most).  She knows they are not her bottle and will throw a fit over it.

since she's past a year old, it's not too terribly crucial that her calcium comes from milk.  can you make it up in other ways - cheese, yogurt, etc. ??

what about a straw cup?  for a while, mine would drink water only out of straw cup & milk out of a sippy cup.  come to think of it, they still do that!

Straw cup is the same thing, got that too.  She does love yogurt though.  Is 1oz of yogurt considered to be the same as 1oz of whole milk?  The only yogurt I could find is all made with skim milk.  For the life of me I cannot find any made with whole milk.  I'm in Canada.

My LO won't drink milk out of a sippy either.  Actually, she'll only drink it in the bottle if its mixed 1/2 and 1/2 with formula still.  She's down to 2 bottles a day, morning and before bed.  The morning one will be cut out soon, she's weening herself.  The bedtime one will probably be around awhile yet.

Anyway, I don't worry too much because she's still got those 2 bottles.  But during the day I do what the other posters said and offer cheese and yogurt, both she'll always eat (and she's been picky lately so thats good news!)

My son is almost 1.5 years old and we're in the smae boat. He drinks 8-9 oz in bottle am and pm. He drinks water... not even juice from his straw cup but rejects the milk. I can sometimes get an ounce or two in him through the cup but he mostly puches it away.  I am mostly to blame b/c I really havent been pushing the issue b/c it seems every time i put the milk into the cup he pushes it away.  I am hoping he will transition to the cup when he is ready....
Do your lo's drink their cup milk at meal times or in between???

Dairyland makes a whole milk yogurt called Lil' Ones. It is sweetened with fruit juice and comes in a variety pack of 8. I'm in Canada too and searched high and low for whole milk yogurt before finding it at WalMart of all places!

YES!! I actually found it yesterday at Shopper Drug Mart! I'll check walmart though, probably cheaper.  So is 1oz of yogurt equivalent to 1oz of milk then?
