Please please help!!
« on: February 28, 2007, 14:40:39 pm »
I have a 10 week old baby and I started her on the 3hr easy one week ago.

The evening and nights are as the textbook, however, she will only take 10 mins BFeed and a max of 45 mins sleep per day.

This afternoon she has already woken 3 times from 13.18hrs to 14.48hrs????  She is tired, could she be overtired?  She has also had another 10 mins BFeed in between these hours? (this is not the norm, but she was hungry??)

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

My first thoughts are hunger. I don't know much about breasfeeding but a 10 minute feed sounds short.  Does she seem happy and content after these feeds?

And yes, she sounds overtired, 45 mins day sleep is very little for a 10 weeks old  You say she sleeps well at night though?

Bear in mind that she might be a snacker so isn't taking a good feed or nap right now

My hunch is you need to work on extending those 10 min feeds and hopefully your EASY will start to fall into place some more. I always try to sort out feeds first, then work on extending naps.

Perhaps check out the BF forum for help on this?

I agree with PP.  When your lo is older that time for a feed will be about right as they become more proficient at eating.

It does sound like your lo is extremely over tired and hungry.  I would work on the feeds first and then try and extend the naps with either Wake to Sleep or Pat / Shhhh.
