Craft Ideas for almost 12 month old
« on: February 28, 2007, 18:11:17 pm »
My daughter is going to be 1 year old as of April 2nd ( :'(). I would like to start doing some sort of crafts with her as her and I get tired of just playing on the floor all day long.  Are there any safe crafts that we can start doing?  She still puts EVERYTHING into her mouth and rubs her eyes all the time so it will be tricky.

I just want to start mixing it up a bit.

Thanks
Melissa

It's pretty early for any real crafts, but she'll probably enjoy crayons soon.

Mine liked "painting" with water on a piece of construction paper - it darkens the paper, so they can see what they do, but no mess, non-toxic, and you can even re-use the paper after it dries (yes, I'm frugal).

Another possibility is stickers (closely supervised so she doesn't eat them).  If you use the old-style photo album pages, most come off easily to be rearranged.  My girls like craft foam too - especially the kind with sticky backs so no glue.

I don't think I'd start play-doh or anything like that yet, unless you make the edible kind.
