when should baby move to his/her own room?
« on: March 02, 2007, 20:34:48 pm »
What is the best time to move baby into his or her own room?  Considering everything from SIDS to parents getting good rest, to baby getting good rest, to avoiding separation anxiety from Mom and Dad's room, etc.?

i'm not sure if there is a set time to move them into their own room.just when you think you are both ready.
we moved sasha into her own room when she was 3 months as she had been sleeping through the night from 2 months and was able to self settle her self.we started off with naps in her room for a few days and then all sleeps in her own room.
i worried the first few nights (checked her quite a few times-LOL) but she was fine.

the offficial time i think- as advised by the organisation for sids is 6 months ( the risk of sids significantly drops at this age) but as with a lot of things in childrearing i think it is when you and lo feel ready

We moved Joel into his room at 6 months. I was too scared to let him sleep on his own - was paranoid about cot death. Its whatever you feel is right! x

We moved Jason at 3 months - he outgrew the crib and the cot didn't fit in our room.  It has worked really well for us, we incorporate the bedtime bottle being given in his darkened room.  Also, he's a noisy sleeper, so we have the monitor turned low to miss out on all the grunting snorting giggling and farting but loud enough so we hear him if he cries.
