When did your lo start taking just one nap?
« on: March 04, 2007, 15:05:39 pm »
My lo is 12 months and still takes 2 naps.  One is approx 2.5-3 hours after she wakes for about 1.5 hours and then an afternoon nap for about 1.5 hours.  I'm just wondering when she might stop taking one of her naps.

I think for most it is anywhere from 12-18months. Quite often the morning nap just gets shorter and shorter.

We stopped at 13.5 months.  We saw her AM nap get pushed back later (went from 8:30 to 9:30 to start) and her A time went longer and her PM nap used to be from 1:30-3 and then it slid back to about 3-5pm  :o.  Thats when we knew we had an issue......THAT late nap went unnoticed as a problem for a few weeks and then I paid attention!    Tracy said something about napping being "done" by 3:30 pm for that 7 bedtime.....ensures enough Activity time, makes sense.

Absolutely the same here as Stacey above, we started at 14 months for the same reasons.

Mine had 2 naps but I used to cut her morning nap to 30 mins until she was 15-16 months, which is when she went to 1 nap.

My DD went to 1 nap just before 15 mos. For a few months prior to that, she would generally only sleep 40 minutes for her morning nap. Then she began refusing her morning nap altogether, so we had no choice but to go to 1 nap! I sure miss those 2 nap days... would've kept them as long as I could have!  :)

We went to one nap at 12 months, after ds was refusing nap#2 all together.

14mos, and it was pretty much the same situation.  She started refusing am and/or pm nap.  On days she took both, she often wasn't tired at bedtime.  We kept offering two until it seemed like she only needed one nap more often than she needed two.

It was at 13 months over here. DD started only taking 40 min. naps to no naps at all...and only sleep 11 hours all night.  After switching to one nap she immediately started taking 1.5 to 2 hour naps, in fact there was no gradual transition for us.

DD finalized at 13 mos.  DD went from two 1.5 hr naps to one nap of 2-2.5 hr.   Transition period was about several weeks.
