What to do if no wind down?
« on: March 06, 2007, 18:50:08 pm »
Hi all- some of you might of read my other posts about 3.5 easy and short nap problems- thanks again for your help. Nap times are no longer a traumatic experience and i think we're getting there thanks to bw.com.

one question i have is about Wind down. My lo is now on 3.5 easy so say he gets up at 7 and has 1.25 of A time he should then have 20 mins of wind down to take it to 8.45 then he should have 1.45 hours sleep to take it to next E time at 10.30 but sometimes my lo has virtually no wind down. i pop a dummy in his mouth and a few mintues later he is asleep making his S time 2.05- sometimes he cant make it 1.25 A time so his S time is even longer.

(hope this makes sense)

Do i let him just sleep extra or should i try to keep him up a little later to compensate for the lack of wind down time?

id love to hear your advise and suggestions

xxx

im not sure how to incorporate this into my routine

Hi Suzie!  My dd rarely has ever had a proper wind-down routine - she is so spirited that it really didn't help, any stimulation is enough for her!  That and she always crashed hard, which sounds like your ds does as well.  She also required less sleep than the textbook says, so go with what your little man is trying to tell you.  Find what works best for him and work your routine from there.

HTH!  :)

Thanks Kathleen, i've been fighting to make him conform to the book for 3 months now and i've more or less come to the same conclusion. he only seems to need 45 minutes. he wakes up crying and stays that way if i keep him in his cot however if i get him out within minutes he's fairly cheerful so i think i'll just go with the flow

thanks again  :)

Oops except I meant she required less A time...she usually was only awake 1hr at a time and then slept hard for 2 hrs.  SOrry for the mistype.  :D
