Feeding Utensils

When do you offer LO's feeding utensils (spoon) to feed themselves?

I've given my DD a spoon and her bowl a few times and she's not getting it yet.  Makes for a good photo op tho ..  ;)

Is now a good time to start or should I wait a few more months?

So, if I were feeding her cereal, would I give her a spoon and the whole bowl of cereal and just let her go at it?  (OMG, I shudder at the thought of the mess!  :o  And at EVERY meal too?!?   :o )  Or do I hold the bowl and feed her like normal, but give her a spoon of her own and put food on it every once in awhile so she can practice?

He eats all meals with no clothes on and gets a nice washing down after!

LOL   ;D

What do you do when you're at someone else's house or in a restaurant?  Does he let you just feed him then?

Aw, that was really cute!  Pretty skilled with an adult fork!

First thing going through my mind is .. my Grace would have the food dumped off that plate in 2 seconds flat.   :-\

Maybe I'll start "sharing" the feeding with her - give her a spoon and let her put some in her mouth too - and see how that goes.

funny that i just saw this posting because i just wrote a similar post regarding feeding utensils!
kaleb is doing so great! i want to let G just go with it but it is frustrating i have to say :o i love the idea of no clothes on though...i looked at some other self feeding videos on youtube and they are shirtless as well....good suggestion! and it was great to see your video and actually not feel alone in how this stuff all goes! thanks!
