2 week old falling asleep during nursing...
« on: March 14, 2007, 02:19:08 am »
I'm sure this question has been asked several times but I couldn't find the thread. I just finished reading The Baby Whisperer and the "sleep" suggestions are working...now a question about the activity.

My newborn is 2 weeks old. She sometimes falls asleep while nursing and often does not want to wake up for "activity" time. Should I just skip the activity portion and put her to bed in her crib? I try to follow EASY but it often ends up being ESY (minus the A). : )

Suggestions?

Congrats on your new baby :)

For a 2 week old, it's perfectly ok to have little (if any) activity time.  You can try to do a diaper change after nursing just to try to avoid the feeding to sleep association, but there's not a whole lot you can do about it if she's determined to sleep.  Have you checked out this post?

It's a great way to get started on EASY in the early days.  Welcome to the boards :)
