My lo (5mos) is mspi. His only symptoms were poor sleep, upset tummy, mucousy grn stools, and spitting up.  He is silent refluxer.  I am wanting to occassionally give him a bottle, because pumping doesn't yield much.   I tried Nutramigen 6oz about 3 wks ago.  The jury is still out.  He appeared ok.  However, he did get a few little bumps on his groin area and spit up a tiny bit.  You'd have to squint to see them, but I was really looking for reaction.  Yesterday, I tried powdered Alimentum, 1oz.  He appeared ok.  However he did poop almost right away.  He did have some more of those tiny red bumps and spit up a tiny bit.  I am just wondering if this is normal with formula or if I should go and get neocate.  Anybody have slight spitting up with formula and more frequent stools, but ended up that lo was ok with it?
thanks,
ashley

My son who is allergic to dairy and soy amongst other things could not tolerate nutrmigen but we did not try alimentum so can't comment on that. He did well on neocate though and he actually really enjoys it now.

It could be his body adjusting. I'd stick with one and try it for at least 2 weeks before making a decision. BTW, we had the best luck with RTF alimentum (actually has different ingredients than powdered and my LO tolerated it better). Good luck!

I noticed that the powdered Nutr. and Alimentum have corn syrup solids as first ingredient.  Is this something to be leary of...the corn?

My DD used to break out from corn syrup solids (actually maybe it was the corn starch)- which is why we used the RTF Alimentum. She also prefered the taste of the RTF.

Well, i am new around here but i need some advice i think.  My son Morrissey was put on alimentum after bad excema from milk and even worse with soy!!  so, now his rash is gone and he never gets tummy aches..  that is great. but he has been on that stuff for like 2 weeks now and he has had frequent loose stool almost since he started. i  dont know if it is normal or not.  He has like 3 bm a day and they are all loose, some more then others..  i dont know if maybe its still the allergys causing or the formula. i was hoping it would go away.  would another formula maybe not cause the diahrrea as much??  he is happy on it but i can't stand seeing him always having that runny pooh pooh, a few times a day!!! thats too much i think. anyone else have this problem when switching to Alimentum???  let me know..:*))

I've tried getting my 6.5 month old to take RTF Alimentum, but she refuses.  She has some serious signs of MPI and I really think it is worth a try, but can't get her to drink it.  Any suggestions?
