Why doesn't she wake and chat???
« on: March 20, 2007, 10:24:52 am »
Hi there

I have not posted for so long but have been lurking in the backgroung watching the pesk earlly wakers! Ruby is 16 months now and we have been dealing wtih early wakes but this seems to be sorted now. Her routine looks like this most days:

6.30 wake
12.30 sleep 1.5 - 2.5 hours (at childcare) normally 2 hours
7-7.15 bed sleeps right through

My problem is regardles if it is a day sleep or night sleep she wakes and cries and cries till we come and get her. I have never experianced one day in her life when she has woken and will happily chat in her cot till we come and get her. How can i teach her that there are plenty of toys (5 lovey's) in her cot and that it is ok to wake and chat for a little while rather than screaming the house down? Or am i asking too much?

Thanks in advance...

Have you tried putting her in crib at daytime for little playtime there? This way she gets used to her crib  :)
Do you have Babywhisperer toddler book? I find lots of useful info there.

Hi There

She is more than happy to play in there when it is not sleep time and sometimes requests getting in there for some timeout but she doesnt cry while in there. I dont have the toddler book only the Baby Whisperer Solves All your Problems....

For the first 18 months of dd2's life, she cried until we came to get her.  At 18 months some switch turned on and she started waking happy.

DD1 would spend endless time in her crib.... she would happily play by herself in her crib for over an hour.  DD2 never played in her crib (not that I didn't try  ::) )  Hang in there, it may happen one day  :-*
