How to keep a 16 month old amused???
« on: March 26, 2007, 20:29:32 pm »
Hello,
I'd love some ideas to keep my 16 month old out of mischief! ::) So her mummy can get on with some housework. ;) The mountain of washing I have to wade through tomorrow is seriously no laughing matter. She'll help me to sort through it of course.. ;) mixing the blacks with the whites!!!
Any ideas welcome thanks.

Stickers.  Give her a sheet of paper and a sheet of stickers and it should keep her busy for about 10 minutes.  Enough time for me to have a coffee!!

Some of Katie's favorites at that age: stacking cups, shape sorters, Little People

Anything she can dump out and put back in -- shoeboxes, tupperware, kitchen drawers

Check the Toddler Activity sticky at the top of the forum for more ideas...

Not sure if this would entertain a 16mo, but it keeps my extremely spirited/active (into EVERYTHING!) 12mo occupied for a few minutes...

Run some dishwater (or bubble bath) in the sink, then scoop off all the bubbles and put them in a bowl. (I use a metal mixing bowl, so the bubbles show up well.) I also give DS a smaller bowl (like one of his "baby food" bowls) to scoop the bubbles. (Tries to eat them! LOL) Best if it's on the kitchen or bathroom floor, probably.

This is how I get dishes washed, since we don't have a dishwasher. Got the idea from my Parents as Teachers lady.
