New to EASY and need HELP with naps
« on: April 03, 2007, 21:30:38 pm »
Hi all,
My daughter is nearly 5 months old and I started her on EASY 2 weeks ago. It seems to be going really well except for the afternoon nap. Her routine is usually as follows:
8.00 - 8.30: Up and feed
8.30 - 9.30 - Activity
9.30 - 11.30 - Sleep
12.00 - 12.30 - Feed
12.30 - 1.00 - Activity
1.00 - 1.45 - Sleep
1.45 - 2.15 - Trying to get her back to sleep
2.15 - 4.00 - Activity
4.00 - 4.30 - Feed
4.30  - 5.30 - Activity
5.30 - 6.00 - Sleep
6.00 - 6.45 - Activity
6.45 - 7.15 - Bath and ready for bed
7.30 - 8.00 - Feed and bed.

I've been trying everything to get her to sleep longer in the afternoon but she either wakes up crying or just wakes up and looks around until I come in. If I don't pick her up she cries. I've tried leaving her in her room until she starts crying at which point I go in (which seems to make her wake up even more). I've tried patting her and P.U/P.D but I can't get her back to sleep. I think she does need more sleep because, she's very tearful in the afternoon. I'm also worried that if I start getting her up at that time, she will only sleep for 45 minutes in the morning as well and then she will be very overtired all day. I think she has started self-soothing because she sometimes does it at night. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanx

Try pushing out the afternoon nap to 1.30pm the reason for her waking after 45mins could me be she isn't tired enough after 1.5hrs awake time to have a long nap. On average for this age awake time is 2hrs.

I would leave the morning if she having a good nap. Most babies have their shortest awake time in the mornings.
