not wanting to nap
« on: April 04, 2007, 14:50:37 pm »
Help. In the last two weeks my daughter is having trouble falling asleep for naps, and  sometimes will only take one 1-2 hour nap a day. She is 10 months.. That seems too early to only do one nap a day. She was napping around 10 and around 2..But something is changing. We also have been doing the put down method (she gets up herself). Sometimes it takes an hour of this before she goes to sleep. After an hour and a half I just give up. Help!

Could you post your routine?

Ok..the days vary but here goes
7
6:45-7:30 wake bottle
8:00
breakfast
9:00 or 9:30 wind down(pray for nap)
10 nap(depending on how long it takes)
11:15 bottle
12:30 lunch
1:30 or 2 wind down
2-3:30 or 2:30-4 nap ( sometimes not at all)
Bottle
8:00 dinner
7:00 bath
7:30 wind down..usually asleep by 8.

Also, she naps better for my nanny..when I am home I will do PUPD for two hours sometimes then just give up because I am going to loose my mind, so we go on a walk or just go on with our day..and she is not any more fussy lately if she misses her afternoon nap. It's like someone gave her Red Bull!! She just started pulling up and crawling. She is very spirited and strong willed and constantly makes whiney noises like she is impatient..What am I doing wrong?? I work two days a week.

What is that your nanny does differently? Developmental milestones can often play a big part in naps. The only other thing i can suggest is to limit the 1st nap to 45mins in hope you will get a long PM nap.
