Sleep for a 22 month old little one!
« on: April 08, 2007, 12:39:12 pm »
My lo is 22 months on the 11th, he had troubles with sleep up until 11 months when we started pu/pd.  Since then, bar the odd night or if hes been ill etc he's slept 12 hours at night and 2 hours in the day or 3 hours in the day and 11 at night! So basically 14 hours total!!

Things have changed the past couple of weeks, he's not really tired by 1 o clock - his usual nap time, he'll go eventually but he used to be exhausted by the time 1 came! Hes also not sleeping as much at night, usually around 10 hours sometimes abit longer.

So, is it time to cut the nap down or do you think its just a phase?! I love the daytime nap but I can make do with 1 hour if I must!  ;)

It could be he needs more A time or less nap time, I suggest putting him down 15 mins later for nap then to cut it back by only a tiny bit eg 15 mins to start with then seeing what happens, give it a few days and see how it goes, hope that helps!

Thank you, ill try that! At the moment his A time is 6 hours in the morning and 4 - 5 in the afternoon/evening so I thought maybe the pm A time is too short but he seems tired at 7 pm - I cant change his nap time as he attends nursery till 12.45 and if he slept say at 12 there it would mean disturbing him when I collect him and if he slept any earlier than 12 he'd miss lunch!! Thanks for the advice! Ill try it out tomorow!

Tbh  he may seem tired at 7pm (which he prob is) but tweaking routines does usually mean a few days of being a bit more tired Maybe just cut back some of thenap time?

Okay, hes just gone up now, we've got to go out to have some photos done at 1.30 so he'll only have an hour today, we'll see how that goes... yesterday he only had an hour by choice and he slept from 8 until 7 which is better than 7 - 5! Ideally Id like 7 - 7 but Im prob asking abit much now hes coming up to 2!

Is there still a thread that tells you how much sleep they should have at what age?
