Anyone give their toddler brewers (nutritional) yeast?
« on: April 25, 2007, 14:54:54 pm »
Hey!   In her Super Baby Food the author talks about this stuff--says it's a great source of B vitamins, and a nice source of protein.  DS doesn't eat any red meat or fish, and only a little chicken, so I picked some of this nutritional yeast up at the health food store, but I'm short of chicken to give it to him.  Anyone else use it?

Thanks!
Jen

Hi, have not used it for my own toddler, but I know my mother used to give it to us in our bottles as babies. I actually take the pills myself, they are fantastic for skin, hair, nails and give an energy boost if you are feeling low. Don't be chicken, it really is harmless, totally natural and can only do good. It probably is in Marmite, but I doubt you'd get it in the quantities that the powder would provide. It's also totally safe in pregnancy - so would also be totally safe to give to a toddler.

Hope that helps,

Cate

We use marmite here for our boys because they are vegetarians and it is a good source of vit b12.  Theyt don't have too much because it contains salt. But i flavour gravy with it or they have a very small amount spead on toast.

I used to make marmite bites when they were just starting finger foods and i got that from a baby recipe book. They both loved them but they both need vit B12 because they don't get it from any meat.

Thanks guys!  Hey, if it gives an energy boost, I need some for myself!  I've never heard of marmite, though...
