how to replace the bed time bottle with sippy?
« on: April 26, 2007, 08:05:43 am »
Hello  I am currently weaning my Lo from the bottle.  I replaced her bed time bottle with a soppy last night and she didn't mind it one bite but did not finish it like she does her bottle.  Anyway my question is what should my routine look like it is currently

7am soppy 6oz
8am breakfast
10 nap
11 snack 4oz soppy
12pm lunch
2pm nap
3:30- 4pm snack
5:30 supper  (do I give her a 6 oz soppy here?)
7pm bath (do I give her a snack here?)
7:30pm bed (use to have a 6 oz bottle here)

any comments and ideas??

i would love to hear some info too, as I want to start the weaning process and in my head, I think that nighttime one will be the most difficult?

OK in reading some posts I came up with this routine.

4oz at breakfast
4oz at lunch
4 oz at supper
4oz bedtime

all in sippy cups.  This has worked for me and since she is not getting 6oz before her breakfast, she is eating allot more at all meals.  Oh I also stopped giving her snacks and this has increased her meal intake as well. She didn't seem to mind not getting her bottle and doesn't seem to miss it.   ;D

Seems like it would work, but she would never have 4oz with dinner.  And, if she did, she would never have 4 oz an 1.5 hr later.  Maybe she would surprise me, but seems like a lot of food/milk in a 2 hour timespan.  I am going to start toying with it and see what works.  Right now at bedtime, she really only takes anywhere from 3-4oz, in a bottle.

Ya your right it is allot of milk in the evening but if you think about it, my Lo did not get anything at supper but would drink 6 oz before bed so that only makes 2 extra oz.  Last night she did not finish her sippy so maybe if that continues, I will not give her any at supper.  Like you said you have to play with it and see what works.   :)
