need advice on EW
« on: May 14, 2007, 18:34:27 pm »
Hi everyone, Mari and Layla I'm glad to say hello..... Isabella & I are doing better and better, we are not sleeping without interruptions yet (at least not every night) but I think we will not be able to do that until I take away the ??? paci away!!!!! But I don't think we are ready for that. Anyway, I want to ask your advice because Isabella has been waking earlier and earlier as days go by, she used to wake around 7, then 6:45..... etc, today she woke at 5:45!!!! she is going to bed at 8, she takes a 2 hr nap at 12. (I've noticed that the birds wake her up but now she is not going back to sleep).                     Lety

while u wait for the mods to gt back to you...some food for thought: when we have EW it's either Overtired, too long nap in pm, teething or...who knows! usually cutting back pm nap if hes been sleeping longer than usual works but I did that yest and didnt make a diff today ::)

I am not an expert on early wakings, but all I can say is, if you don't want to get into a bad habit you are better to start the day if you can't get her back to sleep with WIWO.  Hopefully the early wakings will get later.  What time is bedtime?

If she takes her nap at 12, let her sleep 2hrs and then make bedtime 7-7.30 the latest.

Hello everyone.....
Macsmom: Isabella is 15 months.
Yaya: Thanks for the information, several teeth are on their way at the same time, even a couple of molars, maybe that is making things worse.
Mari: That is what I've been doing, but it is really hard for me to start so early after a not so good night and a high energy toddler.
Layla: I will try earlier bed time tonight, actually that was her original bed time and I had to change it because of the summer time change, it is still too bright at 7:30 even with the curtains closed, there is some light coming in and she can't ( or doesn't want to) fall asleep.

Today was even worse, she Wup at 4, I guess she had a nightmare because she was standing in her crib and she climbed me as soon as I got close to her. I stayed holding her a few minutes, gave her a sip of water, change diaper but then I couldn't get out of the room, she cried a lot (as a kid I had terrible nightmares) so I couldn't let her by her self and took her to my bed AT 6:00 to at least have an hour of sleep, which we both did......     Lety

hugs, it really is hard, and so confusing as to why oh why r they waking????
Best suggestions are early bedtime, reduce nap for at least 4 days (she should start sleeping to recuperate the sleep missed in pm nap), have u tried leaving her there when she wakes? Or is she crying? If DS wakes crying he's usually still tired. If he doesnt he'll stay for up to 1 hr chatting away, plenty of time to go back to sleep if he needs to...good luck!

You know Yaya, I did some accidental parenting while she was still Little in the sleeping department so now she is very used to cry weather she is tired or not, she actually likes to be in her crib but not when she wakes up, she cries every time no matter if it's day or night it is automatic, sometimes i think she starts crying even before she wakes. I've never left her to CIO or anything but she does have a little of "chronic SA". We've come a long way though, but it gets to a point when you get soooo tired that one good night isn't enough, I need it to be consistent. Next week I'm going away to my home town, It's the first time I'm going with Isabella without my husband, I don't know what surprises has my LO for me, I'll try to keep our schedule as accurate as it can be, and when we come back I'll try to take the pacifier away, I can't stand it anymore and I really think it has originated most of our sleeping problems, thanks for listening..................And she's definitely going to bed earlier, as for waking her from her nap, let me tell you that it scares me A LOT!!!!!                            Lety

how old is she again? DS used ALWAYS cry when he woke from a nap or sleep then he stopped (mind u I think he was always overtired till not long ago...now if he cries when he wakes it means he's still tierd)
wakign them from a nap....tell me about it!! I hate doing it but it has realyl worked for us...give it a shot for a few days see if it works.
good luck on ur hol! You'll do great...keep to routine as much as u can but dont stress yourself out about it...like i do ;) otherwise u'll end up not enjoying ur time away. Naps in stroller if u need to , that sort of thing!
where r u going?

Last night was much better, I put her to bed at 7:30 she ended up sleeping until 8, but she has a good night and woke until 7!!!!
She's 15 mths. And yes, I'll try not to stress too much about the routine, I'm going to Mexico City, we had to move to small city (San Luis Potosi) because of my husband's job.

Hello, sorry it took so long to write you back. Just want to tell you we are doing great. During the week we went away everything was a mess but as soon as we got back home everything has been more than ok, the first night she woke up several times crying (she got used to have me right at her side) but it was just that night. Since then she is been sleeping all night, and even if she Wup she goes back to sleep on her own. I hope this is it...........Thanks. Lety
