Leo's gums amaze me too! He has no teeth yet, but will eat everything I give him!
I did take some pics over the weekend, but the girls in my birth club will tell you I'm pretty bad at posting them - I have to resize them all first and getting on the computer in the evenings can be tricky (I do all my BW from work!  :P)

Hopefully I'll get a chance soon - well done everyone!

PS - anyone know how long to roast sweet potato for? Do I par-boil it first like normal potato or not?  ???
Thanks!!

Sharon, all I do for roasted sweet potato and pumpkin is to cut them half length ways (skin on), then put them flesh side down in a baking dish with about half inch of water.  Cook on about 150 for close to an hour (depends on the size, thickness etc).  I just cook until a knife goes through.  Then I take them out and tip them up and just scoop out the contents for mash.  It's like its roughly mashed without actauly mashing them. For finger food, I just don't cook as long - so the knife goes through but firmly (prob about half to 45mins).  then when yhou turn them over just slice into the size you want through to the skin and they come out.  Kind of like how you do mango.  Hth - makes me sound like this great cook, but I got the *recipe* from some baby cook book.  Really easy to do.

Yeh Ali on the apricots - what do you mean you haven't tasted a real one.  I hope you saved some for yourself - they are my fav stone fruit at Xmas time (summer here of course !)

I gave Lilly some cauliflower flowers iwth melted cheese today.  She loved it - I just cooked it a bit long.  She's getting really good at guiding the spoon in her mouth with the spoon food I give her too.

have fun all
Aleesa.....

Thanks Aleesa, but I was thinking more of sweet potato 'chips' for Leo to have as finger food?
Can I do this with SP or is it too soft?

Can't you tell I'm just not a 'natural' in the Kitchen!?  ::)

Well I wouldn't par boil sp as it cooks much quicker than normal potato.  I would just cut them up and then bake them on some baking paper (spray them maybe).  Prob only take half hour - not sure, just keep checking them.  I would cook them on about 180. sounds like a good idea.  I really learnt how hot little things are out of the mw today.  i blew on the cauli for lilly but must have a been a fraction too hot.  Poor little thing it got into her mouth and then the face and she got her little fingers and pulled it all out.  I must remember to cool alot more next time....in saying that she still ate the next bite LOL

Aleesa, I mean I've only ever had dried apricots before!

Sharon, I chip the roast potatoes, put the oil in and put them in at 180 and they are usually done in, say, 25 mins (our oven is hot though - fan oven, so you may need longer.  Just keep checking them).  They are nice though!!!

Blimey, go away for a few days and look what you lot get up too ;D - so good to hear that your los are munching away happily!

Going back a few posts, if anyone does not want to introduce wheat too early, or has an intolerance, crushed cornflakes make a good alternative to breadcrumbs, so if I'm making anything that would normally be coated in breadcrumbs (fishcakes, chicken dippers etc) they can be coated in finely crushed cornflakes instead!

Welcome back Alison! It's great everyone is doing so well isn't it!!

Sweet potato chips were scrummy! Needed to cook them for about 30 minutes, and I used the spray oil so they weren't too greasy.

As promised (at last!) here are some pics of Leo with his finger foods - veggies & pasta twists.

Thanks guys  ;D
Just got around to changing my Avatar too (having a day off work today!)
Aleesa - the chair is a Stokke Tripp Trapp.
It's great - means Leo can join us right at the table, rather than be a tray away!

I can't wait to join this thread!!  I've managed to read from page 1 so don't feel too out of it.

Lydia is getting more and more interested in our food and I think BLW will be the way to go for us.  While out shopping I happened to stop and look at the jarred stuff thats on sale (to give me ideas what I should blend together) and to be honest I thought "did I really eat this mush when I was a baby"?

I started lurking on feeding solids board and I really want to give BLW a real go.  I know even if I don't post on here much, reading what you fab ladies & babies are achieving is my inspiration.  Will probably give it another couple of weeks as only just ordered our Tripp Trapp (reassured that its a popular choice on here!)

Speak soon
