« on: May 18, 2007, 03:43:25 am »
Does anyone have any ideas for a fruit smoothie recipe for my LO? I am going back to work and would like her to have a fruit smoothie in the car on the way to daycare in the AM......Anyone have any good ideas? The only thing I have yet to give her to eat is peanut butter....so any recipes w/o that would be great!! THANKS!!! :)

I just put a thing of baby yogurt in her straw cup, add some milk and stir.

I have a recipe book from Innoent Smoothies.  What sort of fruits do you think you would like.  there are hundreds of recipes in there.  I could take a look and post some.

Also Innocent Smoothies for Kids are gently pasturised and are fresh out of the refrigerator for up to 12 hours so great for lunchboxes etc.

I made some smoothies from the recipes and decided that buying them ready made turned out to be a cheaper option as you need so much fruit and they don't last that long.

Thanks everyone for posting! :) I've never heard of Innoent smoothies.....as far as fruit goes, maybe any easy smoothie without strawberries...still have not tried those yet, but maybe we will soon. And maybe one without banana, she is kind of allergic to them.

Maybe Innocent havent reached the US yet.
Here's one called Summer in a Glass

1/4 cantaloupe melon
a handful of cherries
a large sprig of blackcurrants
a small punnet of raspberries
2 apples
Remove and discard the rind and the seeds of the melon  Chop the melon into chunks and remove stones.  Add the melon, cherries, blackcurrants and rasperries to the blender.  Cut the apples into wedges put them through the juicer and pour the juice into the blender.  Whizz everything together until blended.  2 servings.

Honeyed pears and ginger.
1 soft juicy pear
some honey
a thumbnail of fresh ginger
2 oranges
switch your grill on. cut the pear in half.  Take out the core and stalk and put the halves on a baking tray (flesh side up). Brush with honey and grill for 5-10mins until flesh is soft and the honey caramelised. Peel and finely chop the ginge and chuck it in the blender with the orange juice.  Add honeyed pears ad blend. 1 serving.

What I discovered was that you could make anything really, so long as you have a blender.  Just put the fruit in together and whizz away.  It's nice to add a little peppermint etc in the summer time.
Some fruits need to be squeezed, some blended.

Hope you enjoy

Hmm - what veggies could you hide in there without changing taste too much? So like a fruit/veggie mix?

So maybe V8 or that V8 Fusion? Would you also use milk then (in our case goat milk)?

We do smoothies nearly every day for Nathan.  I do about 5-6 ice cubes, maybe a cup of frozen or fresh fruit (like berry medley), 1/2 cup yogurt (plain or flavored), 1 banana, and orange juice.  If he hasn't had much milk that day, I also add some milk, and it tastes great.   :)

Hmmm maybe I'll try V8 Fusion (although its been hard to find lately), some goat yogurt, some banana and some blueberries? No ice - she's not big on things too cold...
