Baby Doesn't Like Travelling in Car at Night
« on: May 18, 2007, 16:19:00 pm »
Hello,

I am new to the site and I have a question about car travel that perhaps someone might have some advice for.

My baby is generally very easy but evening car travel makes her crazy.  She does fine in the daytime when there are things to look at from her car seat mirror but at night when she can't see she goes crazy, crying and screaming and nothing seems to calm her down.

Any ideas on how to keep her more relaxed in for the afterdark commute?

Hi Julian,

Welcome to the site. I moved your post to the activity forum, where you'll get more answers.

How old is your baby and how long is your commute? Does she like listening to music?

Can you leave the interior light on?  This was a phase my youngest went through, then one day it just stopped bothering her.   ???

Hi,

Thanks for the music and light tips (and for moving the post to wherever this is!).  Camila is three months and the drive is a little less than an hour.  At present her music plays but it doesn't seem to have any effect. The light is something we have not tried.

Get a portable dvd player and pop in some baby einstein - it'll come in handy for years.

Is there a way to cover her view with a blanket?  My ds went through a phase of fussing (and more) in the car at night. I think it had to do with the lights and not liking them.
