5 wk old; early waking & not hungry
« on: May 19, 2007, 14:19:19 pm »
Hi,

My son Ronan is 8wks has reflux, it doesnt seem to affect his sleep too  much though he does grunt and grown through most of the night. He is still waking for a bottle at about 3.30am and settles well afterwards.

The only problem is that he is then awake at about 5am every morning and he is not hungry. We have been bringing him into our bed to try to get him to sleep a bit longer until he is due his next feed at 6.30.

Can anyone suggest how to fix this.

Elaine.

Is your DS on any reflux meds ? The reason i ask is that Ryan slept through the night at 6 weeks but still grunted/groaned all night and would thrash his legs down on the matress ( we were actually told thos was typical baby behaviour ) at 5 months old the reflux peaked and he was no longer coping . It could be that the reflux is causing the waking because he is uncomfortable .Do you have the cot head elevated ?

He sleeps in his carrycot and the mattress is elevated. We have been feeding him at 3/4am but he is still waking, though the grunting has somehat lessoned.

We just dont want to get into the habit of him coming into our bed at 5am.

We are lost!!!
